Aqua Bus
Hey there!
I hope everybody is enjoying their weekend so far! I have to head to work soon but I wanted to make a quick post before I do. I started working at Salt & Straw last month. We're an ice cream shop that originated in Portland, OR and just opened a shop in LA. It's been amazing so far, it's located in Larchmont Village (such a cute neighborhood!) and I've met a lot of really wonderful people so far (including Kristina Bazan from Kayture)! All of our ice cream is made from local ingredients and made by hand. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by, I recommend trying the Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, Stumptown Coffee with Compartes Love Nuts, and the Black Olive Brittle with Goat Cheese (we give unlimited samples!!).
These photos are from early last month with my best friend Lin was still visiting me in LA. We walked outside of my apartment one day and this giant aquamarine colored bus was just hanging out right in front of the sidewalk. I have no idea what it is...or what that hashtag means. But I loved the bohemian vibe it had and we decided to take some outfit photos in front of it. It was so hot when she visited (it's finally sort of cooling off here in Los Angeles, only kinda though) and I decided to wear a really light maxi skirt from Brandy Melville, of course and this simple black crop top. I'm still living in this outfit...I have to say I can't wait for light jackets and boot weather!
I have a lot of exciting blog related things coming soon this month that I'm very jazzed to share with you guys! Keep an eye out :)
As always, thank you for stopping by!
Xo,
Maddie

In the Flowers
Hey Folks!!
I finally have a new post to share with you all! August was probably the most eventful and exciting month I've had all year...I'm not even sure how to describe it other than remarkable, frightening, and exhilarating. So many changes happened in those short 31 days! The month started off with the end of the UCLA summer camp I worked at, then ended with a big move from Westwood to Hollywood and a "see you soon" to some people I grew to love. It can be scary making so many changes quickly after just moving to an area, but I feel like everyday my life is getting fuller and more beautiful. Sometimes you just need to take a break from your routine or (in my case: take a mini break from blogging) and just live in the moment and immerse yourself in every experience.
Lucky enough, I have my best friend Lin visiting me from NYC this week. I can't even express how much I adore her company and she's been so incredibly encouraging through all of these changes! We took a walk to Silver Lake today to get some Taiwanese food and stumbled upon this beautiful fence right near my apartment. I'm a sucker for flowers, and beautiful backdrops to photos...
I have been living in Brandy Melville clothing this entire summer. I have dresses, halter tops, pants, maxi skirts, knits, necklaces...I just can't resist picking something up and buying it every time I'm in one of their stores. This dress is one of my favorites because it's so simple and insanely comfortable. It's also the perfect LBD because I can dress it up or dress it down depending on how I feel or where I'm going on any day. It also has this amazing little cutout in the back...which I always appreciate in this intense summer heat. Today I decided to dress it up a bit and wore these gorgeous heeled sandals from Urban Outfitters and some jewelry my beautiful friend Jade gave me some time ago.
This Friday and Saturday I'll be taking over Others Follow Clothings Instagram. Follow their account to see photos of my weekend adventures!
I hope you're all having a lovely week and thank you so much for checking in!
xo,
Maddie

Luna
I hope all of you had a beautiful weekend. My weekend was insanely busy but in the best way, I'm actually really amazed at all the things I was able to cram into Friday-Sunday. I'm even more excited for this coming weekend mainly because I'm going to see St. Vincent!! I've missed her the last few times she's been in Pittsburgh so I'm stoked that I finally have the chance to see her. I'm also going to see M.I.A. at the end of the month and I cannot wait!!!! I haven't gone to any concerts yet this year so getting to see two in the same month is incredibly exciting for me.
These photos were taken yesterday while the sun was still shining. I was out all night Saturday so yesterday I tried to keep my outfit super casual and comfortable. I got this rad cat crop top from Brandy Melville last year while I was in Santa Monica. I love this top because it reminds me so much of the cat Luna from Sailor Moon. It's also super comfortable and soft! I threw on these BDG Jeans and this black cardigan in case it cooled off later in the day. I don't mind still having to layer but as the weather becomes warmer and warmer...I'm feeling less motivated to wear socks and gravitate to all the flats in my closet. These cheetah print flats are my by far my favorite pair because of the pointed toe and the metal detail on the front.
I wasn't wearing any sunglasses yesterday but it was so blindingly bright outside that my blue eyes couldn't take it anymore. My friend let me borrow her sunglasses while we sat outside and drank our coffees. I'm a little embarrassed to say that during the two hours we sat outside I managed to get a little bit of sunburn! It's messed up too because it's only on half of my forehead and side of my neck! Hahaa, but I can't really complain too much, it was totally worth it.
Thanks for stopping by!
xo,
Maddie

NYC Weekend Adventure (Part I)
Happy Monday Everyone!
I'm back in Pittsburgh and at the office today after having an incredible weekend in NYC! It's always a little weird to be back to the routine but the weather is gorgeous and I can really feel Spring coming finally! I had so much fun with my best friend this weekend. I arrived on Friday and met her at her office in Williamsburg. Then we spent the rest of the night in Manhattan hitting up all the major tourist spots. On Saturday we had brunch at the Whitney Museum of American Art, checked out the exhibits (by far my favorite museum I've visited) and spent the rest of the day/night in Brooklyn. These photos were taken on Saturday. It was a nice 50 degrees out and I decided to wear this denim shirt with this pair of blue jeans....I'm actually becoming a big fan of "denim on denim" and I never ever thought I would admit it. Since the weather was milder I went with these amazing Deena and Ozzy cut out boots from Urban Outfitters which I've been wearing a lot lately. I also wore a cardigan and green parka (not pictured) in case it got colder during the night.
I have so many photos from this trip so I'm going to make a "Part II" soon. I hope you all had a lovely weekend as well!

Neutral Narnia
Happy December!
Today is the last day of my Thanksgiving "vacation" from work. It has been both relaxing and eventful, and I realize I have so much to be thankful for. Ian came over on Wednesday, once the snowstorm had stopped, and just left this morning. We spent Thanksgiving day at his family's house and then Friday we drove to my parent's house and got to visit and eat with them. While we were home we got to play with my energetic pug and sweet little kittens!!! Friday night we went to see Ian's childhood friend who was visiting from NYC, drank a lot of wine and listened to a lot of Kanye and Smashing Pumpkins. Ian and I also spent this break by watching a mixture of good and terrible films (Safety Not Guaranteed vs. Troll 2) and I had the pleasure of seeing him sculpt in his dad's studio!! Seeing the people we love most and sharing the experience together was really special and left me feeling eternally grateful to have such beautiful, genuine, and understanding people in my life.
This is the outfit I wore to my Mom's house. It has been freezing cold outside recently so I've been wearing a lot of knee-high socks to keep my feet and legs extra warm. I just received this slouchy beanie from ASOS a couple weeks ago and it's been the perfect winter accessory...it keeps me warm AND my hair in place when it's especially windy outside. Personally, I love buying neutral colored hats or thick scarves so I can pair them with almost anything. The other accessory I've been obsessed with lately are these gorgeous vintage beetle earrings. I love the creepy/pretty vibe they give and I adore the tear-drop stone shape. I think they add a cute but funky flare to any outfit.
I hope you all had a lovely holiday!!
