Hey Mickey
Hey Lovelies!
I did a photo shoot with my beautiful and talented friend Katya earlier this week. She's been working on a fashion magazine that shows style throughout the decades. Her project turned out AMAZING! I was lucky enough to have her ask me to style the '80s for her. I have to admit...I don't own very many '80s pieces but I rummaged through my closet and found this Mickey Mouse sweater, tennis skirt, and these super funky Thigh Highs in Snowcone from StockingNoir x Streetheart Collection. I added these light blue Vans to emphasize the sporty vibe.
Nothing is more fun than doing a collaboration and photo shoot with an incredibly dear friend. Thank you Katya for the opportunity and lovely photos!!
You should check out the rest of Kat's photography at her website!!

Lunar Gala Fashion Show
In case you aren't familiar with Lunar Gala, it's an incredible organization at Carnegie Mellon University. The Lunar Gala fashion show takes place every February, in celebration of the Lunar New Year. The entire show is student run with student designers, models, dancers, and producers. Hundreds of people (including CMU students and members of the Pittsburgh community) attend to take part of the amazing fashion, music, and displays. This year's theme was "Hypnose: The Illusion is Beautiful." Some sponsor of this year's Lunar Gala included Baci Lingerie, Ross Park Mall, and Red Bull. This show was also the launch of StockingNoir's new collection Streetheart Collection and their insanely rad 3D lookbooks designed by The Indigo Project, a freelance graphic design business created by my dearest friends Remington Brooks and Marie Mashyna and the photography is by Rachel Norris of Sugar and Spice Wedding Photography!
When Amanda Yuan, the PR Director of Lunar Gala, emailed me and offered me a press pass to the event I was absolutely thrilled and honored!!! Ian and I took our seats close to the stage and oh my god were we BLOWN AWAY by this show...

Some of My Favorites
Happy Weekend Friends!
I hope you're all having a fun weekend and staying warm! It's actually in the double digits today in Pittsburgh so I decided to get a little crazy and wear a dress (!!!) and these super cute Alice in Wonderland tights from StockingNoir. These tights were a gift from Elysia Purnell, the creator of this amazing legwear company based here in Pittsburgh, Pa. I did a shoot with her awhile back for her lookbook and fell in love with all of the stockings.
I paired the look with my emerald suede booties that I'm obsessed with and a pair of sparkly wool socks my sister got me for Christmas. Sadly you can't see the sparkle in the photos but they helped with keeping me warm. I also wore this stunning infinity scarf Ian's mom knit me for Christmas! I'm absolutely in love with this scarf...it's so warm and the colors are GORGEOUS! It's definitely a new favorite of mine.
I wanted to keep my accessories pretty minimal since I have so much going on with this outfit already. I'm carrying my iridescent seashell clutch wallet and these birthstone earrings.
Of course it was too cold to wear this outfit by itself so I put my giant Calvin Klein jacket over it (not pictured).
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for checking in!

maddie

About Me
Hi, my name is Maddie. I'm a recent graduate from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. I majored in Global Cultural Studies. I have a passion for learning about other cultures, understanding the complexities of the world, and traveling. My other passion is, of course, fashion. I am by no means a fashion expert but I stay true to my own sense of style. I hope I am able to inspire you and show you some ideas you can apply to your own wardrobe.
I would eventually LOVE to go back to school and get my masters in fashion styling or fashion merchandising. I've wanted to start a blog for awhile to showcase my personal style. Blogs that have inspired me are Zoella, LEHAPPY, Viva Luxury, Seams for Desire, CHICMUSE, and so many others!
I am constantly shopping and may have a bit of a shoe addiction. My style ranges from classic to funky. My mom used to always tell me that whenever I would walk into a store I would always pick out the "ugliest" shoes. Today that has worked in my favor. A lot of the clothes in my closet have been pieces I've picked up from flea markets or secondhand stores. I get so thrilled when I can find a piece that's totally unique or unconventional. Another wonderful thing about thrifting is getting these one of a kind items for super cheap.
My favorite places to shop are Goodwill, Salvation Army, H&M, Urban Outfitters, LuLus, etc. My favorite thing about fashion is being creative and expressing personal style. I feel like it's important to be playful and always experiment with piecing together an outfit.
Aside from shopping, I enjoy:
- playing with my pug
- painting
- watching foreign films (mostly french and czech new wave)
- listening to shoegaze
- visiting my best friend in NYC
- playing games with my nephews
I hope you all enjoy my blog and I'm able to offer you some inspiration.
