DIY Halloween X Asos

Happy Thursday Folks!

Can you believe how fast October has gone by?? Earlier this month I was contacted by ASOS to do a collaboration for a DIY Halloween costume. I couldn't have been more ecstatic!! I am always lusting after everything on their site and pounced at the opportunity!  In case you're unfamiliar, ASOS is the UK's largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer and offers over 60,000 branded and own label products across womenswear and menswear. So I browsed through their Halloween items and accessories and fell in love with this Moon Hair Crown. It's not exactly spooky but I was gifted these stunning velvet pants by Gypsy Stardust from {E}nter and thought it would look incredible together as a kind of bohemian witch costume.

I don't know about you but I never go as a witch for Halloween because those pointy hats are irritatingly inconvenient, am I right? I'm really excited with how it turned out! I think there's an interesting story being told with the photography (done by the incredible Patrick Ortiz)! This has been my favorite shoot so far, I love how creative I was able to be and working with such an influential brand like ASOS and someone as talented as Patrick has made me more eager for future projects!

Thank you so much ASOS for the beautiful crown and the opportunity! Please please please do yourself a favor and check out their site as well as their DIY Halloween page!

I hope you all have an amazing and festive weekend!

Maddie

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend

Hey Hey!!

Happy Friday lovelies! And can you believe how fast October is flying by?? I feel like I haven't even had time to do any festive Halloween things yet!

Recently I was contacted by Nira of {E}NTER located in Beverly Hills to do a collaboration! {E}NTER is a one-stop boutique that carries an eclectic collection of unique pieces from up-and-coming designers from all over the world! I was welcomed with open arms by Nira, who is an absolute sweetheart and amazing business woman, and allowed to browse through the store and pick out anything I wanted to try on and take home to style!! I obviously had a huge handful of things and ended up taking home three amazing outfits. This is one of the pieces I chose...a gorgeous Radiant Orchid colored dress from an Australian designer with this diamond cut out in the front. I never really wear anything so bright or purple but I couldn't resist trying it on and falling in love with it! I especially love the cut out design because, as a small chested woman, it gives the illusion that I have a little more going on up top haha and I love how it hugs the rest of my body. This is one of those pieces that I put on and automatically feel super confident. Thank you so much Nira, I can't wait to style the other pieces and I am eternally grateful for you making me feel like a princess whenever I walked into your boutique!!

The photography is by my coworker Patrick Ortiz! I looooove how they turned out. He's also new to LA so any other bloggers looking for a photographer should definitely check out his work! You can look at the rest of his photography on his website and tumblr! I'm really looking forward to future shoots with him!

Thank you for checking in and I hope you all have the best weekend!

Aqua Bus

Hey there!

I hope everybody is enjoying their weekend so far! I have to head to work soon but I wanted to make a quick post before I do. I started working at Salt & Straw last month. We're an ice cream shop that originated in Portland, OR and just opened a shop in LA. It's been amazing so far, it's located in Larchmont Village (such a cute neighborhood!) and I've met a lot of really wonderful people so far (including Kristina Bazan from Kayture)! All of our ice cream is made from local ingredients and made by hand. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by, I recommend trying the Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, Stumptown Coffee with Compartes Love Nuts, and the Black Olive Brittle with Goat Cheese (we give unlimited samples!!).

These photos are from early last month with my best friend Lin was still visiting me in LA. We walked outside of my apartment one day and this giant aquamarine colored bus was just hanging out right in front of the sidewalk. I have no idea what it is...or what that hashtag means. But I loved the bohemian vibe it had and we decided to take some outfit photos in front of it. It was so hot when she visited (it's finally sort of cooling off here in Los Angeles, only kinda though) and I decided to wear a really light maxi skirt from Brandy Melville, of course and this simple black crop top. I'm still living in this outfit...I have to say I can't wait for light jackets and boot weather!

I have a lot of exciting blog related things coming soon this month that I'm very jazzed to share with you guys! Keep an eye out :)

As always, thank you for stopping by!

Maddie

Feeling Pink

Hey there!

This past week my best friend in the entire world came to visit me in LA. She's back in NYC now and I already miss the hell out of her! But I'm happy she was able to stay for as long as she did and we were able to do some really fun things and explore Los Angeles together. There's really nothing like having your best friend visit...it's like home away from home. We decided to hit up Melrose Ave to do some browsing one day and I couldn't resist taking pictures in front of Paul Smiths vibrant pink wall.

LA has been SO unbearably hot and humid lately so I decided to wear this comfortable and breezy outfit. My top is from Brandy Melville (like I've mentioned in my last post, I cannot get enough of their clothes). It's long sleeves but incredibly light...the perfect knit for summer and piece for transitioning into fall. Finished off off this monochrome look with these crochet shorts I bought a few years back at Buffalo Exchange

I hope you're all having an amazing start to your week! Thank you for stopping by!

In the Flowers

Hey Folks!!

I finally have a new post to share with you all! August was probably the most eventful and exciting month I've had all year...I'm not even sure how to describe it other than remarkable, frightening, and exhilarating. So many changes happened in those short 31 days! The month started off with the end of the UCLA summer camp I worked at, then ended with a big move from Westwood to Hollywood and a "see you soon" to some people I grew to love. It can be scary making so many changes quickly after just moving to an area, but I feel like everyday my life is getting fuller and more beautiful. Sometimes you just need to take a break from your routine or (in my case: take a mini break from blogging) and just live in the moment and immerse yourself in every experience.

Lucky enough, I have my best friend Lin visiting me from NYC this week. I can't even express how much I adore her company and she's been so incredibly encouraging through all of these changes! We took a walk to Silver Lake today to get some Taiwanese food and stumbled upon this beautiful fence right near my apartment. I'm a sucker for flowers, and beautiful backdrops to photos...

I have been living in Brandy Melville clothing this entire summer. I have dresses, halter tops, pants, maxi skirts, knits, necklaces...I just can't resist picking something up and buying it every time I'm in one of their stores. This dress is one of my favorites because it's so simple and insanely comfortable. It's also the perfect LBD because I can dress it up or dress it down depending on how I feel or where I'm going on any day. It also has this amazing little cutout in the back...which I always appreciate in this intense summer heat. Today I decided to dress it up a bit and wore these gorgeous heeled sandals from Urban Outfitters and some jewelry my beautiful friend Jade gave me some time ago.

This Friday and Saturday I'll be taking over Others Follow Clothings Instagram. Follow their account to see photos of my weekend adventures!

I hope you're all having a lovely week and thank you so much for checking in!

Maddie

Into the Swing of Things

Happy Thursday!

It's a happy one because it's almost the weekend, and this weekend I'll be celebrating my 23rd birthday (which is technically on Monday--but I work). This will be my first birthday EVER away from home and my family so I'm going to try to make the most of it and go on as many adventures as I possibly can. I don't really know what that entails yet but that's part of the excitement! I just know that I'll be spending it with some unbelievably wonderful people and great friends...which is honestly my favorite kind of gift.

This past weekend I had a photo shoot with Luke Herron, a Los Angeles based photographer. I couldn't have been more thrilled than when Luke reached out to me about doing a shoot for my blog. He currently shoots headshots and works with other fashion bloggers. Luke's work also made the cover of American Lookbook Magazine! I feel so fortunate to be working with someone so talented! And I had the best time doing our shoot in a field in Echo Park.

We were mostly excited to take photos around the pepper tree...but we were both pleasantly surprised when we realized there was a swing attached to one of the branches. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've played on a swing. I'm happy I decided to wear these shorts instead of a dress like I had originally wanted to this day...because I was able to swing as fast and high as I desired without any inhibitions. Feeling the wind sweep against my skin and running through my hair while I swung, coupled with the gorgeous view, felt magical and affirmed my impulsive move to LA and lust for new experiences.

I couldn't be more grateful to Luke for capturing these moments and I'm looking forward to the next shoot! Check out the rest of his stunning photography on his website: www.lukedavidphoto.com and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/lukedavidphoto

I hope you're all having a lovely week and enjoying the last day of July!

Maddie
